The Lonely Island

The Lonely Island is a group of comedians from the show Saturday Night Live.  My favorite of the three is Andy Samburg.  He's hilarious.  All of their music videos and songs are just pure comedy.  My favorite song of theirs is Like A Boss.  If anyone is a boss, it's Andy Samburg.  Not only is he a great actor but he's also a great rapper.  You can't really explain The Lonely Island's music, you just have to listen to it to understand.

A Day To Remember

A Day To Remember is one of my favorite bands.  I like their vocalist a lot because he is a good screamer and singer.  His voice goes well with hardcore music and acoustic music.  They're all really good musicians in the band.  I've listened to them change over the years and they've always changed for the better most of the time.

Dinner with musicians

If I could chose five musicians to eat dinner with, it would be Bob Marley, Tyler Carter, Jim Morrison, John Mayer, and Christofer Drew Ingle.  Bob Marley because I would like to discuss his outlook on life, Tyler Carter because I'd like to ask how long it took to become so good at singing, Jim Morrison because I'd like to know how he became a sex god, John Mayer so that he could help me get better at guitar, and last but not least, Christofer Drew Ingle because I'd like to know why he changed his music so drastically and I'd like to thank him for inspiring me to write music.

Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa is awesome.  He's the biggest pot head I've ever known about, but that's not what I like about him.  I like his creativity.  He's got amazing beats.  DJ Ill Will and DJ Rock star are his DJ's most of the time.  They are definitely what you'd call beat masters.  He recently released "Taylor Allderdice" on Datpiff.com for free.  It's amazing.  I love the different variety of songs.  Slow pace, fast pace, loud, quiet, exciting, and relaxing.  My favorite member of his gang is Juicy J.  Juicy J used to rap in Three-Six-Mafia, but now rolls with Taylor Gang.

Watch The Throne

Jay-Z and Kanye West's album Watch The Throne is genius.  Every single song on the album is amazing.  Watch The Throne was extremely successful.  I like Jay-Z a lot more than I like Kanye.  Kanye West is kind of a douche bag.  He thinks he is a lyrical genius.  He is pretty clever, but far from a "lyrical genius".  Anyways, "Why I love You" is my favorite song on the album.  The beat is insane and I love Jay-Z's verse.  Good job to them on such a great album!

Tyler Carter

Tyler Carter is my favorite singer.  He is the ex-singer of the band Woe, Is Me.  When I listen to him sing, I get chills down my spine.  He has a huge range and sings beautifully in every octave.  I don't know why I like his voice so much, but if there was one singer I could choose to sound like, it'd be Tyler Carter.  He quit Woe, Is Me because they didn't think he was very good.  Once he left, his solo career took off and he's doing great now.  I've heard rumors going around that he might start singing with Woe, Is Me again.  I personally want him to go back to the band because I thought they mixed really well together.

Best Coast

Best Coast is a really cool indie/surfer band.  Also the lead singer is a girl and I usually don't like bands with girl singers.  The lead singers of Best Coast and of Wavves are dating.  The lead singer of Best Coast writes a lot of her songs about Nathan Williams(singer in Wavves).  They're a good match for one another because they're both huge potheads, they're both in indie bands, and they both love the beach.  Anyways I love Best Coast because their music is super easy going and easy to jam too.

Bob Marley

Bob Marley is by far one of the world's greatest musicians.  I would trade a lot of things to see that man in concert.  His positive attitude really plays a big influence in mine and others everyday lives.  His music is fun to jam out to or play along with on guitar.   Even though he smoked a lot of pot, he made a HUGE impact on the world(especially in Jamaica).  He is the most widely known reggae musician to ever exist.  His music is just wonderful to listen to when you get up in the morning.

John Mayer

John Mayer is a spectacular singer/song-writer. He sings blues rock and acoustic rock.  One of my favorite songs by him is "slow dancing in a burning room".  My favorite thing about his music is no matter what type of mood you are in his music can totally relate to it.  I like his voice because it is soothing.  He is also one of my favorite guitarists.  His songs are all slow paced but I think he does a good job of showing his amazing guitar skills.  He recently released a new album that I have yet to listen to, but I think I might buy it tomorrow.

WZRD

WZRD is rapper, Kid Cudi's side project.  It is WAY different than his rap music because it has guitar and it's more of trippy/indie music.  The second I heard one of his new songs, I instantly bought his new self-titled album, "WZRD".  My favorite song off of the album is Teleport 2 Me.  It's super catchy and unlike any song I've heard.  I love indie music because it differs so much from the repetitive songs that come on the radio.  Whether or not Kid Cudi is rapping or singing in WZRD, I love all of his music.

Borgore

He is an Israeli dubstep artist, his real name is Asaf Borgor yet is known professionally by Borgore.  I like him because of his creativity and his awesomeness.  He is really dirty mouthed.  He likes to cuss a lot and talk bad about women.  Most people would not like him.  I, however; think he's hilarious.  He was also a drummer for a hardcore band a while back.  He is truly a talented musician.  If you don't like cussing, talking down to women(not that I do), or talking about getting wasted in every country possible, don't listen to Borgore.

Avi Buffalo music video

I wanted to right a blog specifically on this music video because I think Avi did such a wonderful job with it.  In a way it reminds me of the movie Avatar... except without the blue people.  I think the music video matches the super indie music perfectly.  I like the drumsticks that the girl is using.  They look like sticks tied together or something.  Just by watching this music video, you can tell how much of a hippie this dude is.  I also love Avi's guitar.  I feel like whoever came up with the ideas for this video was on drugs and just had a really weird trip and made it into a music video.  My main point is whatever way they thought of making this video, it turned out amazing.

Portugal. The Man

Portugal.  The Man is a band from Portland, Oregon.  I love their music.  They're a super Indie band.  My favorite song by them is People Say.  Most of their songs are upbeat and happy.  Just the right amount of emotion in the music.  Sometimes music can be depressing or too happy and whiney or something.  They do a great job of controlling that.

Wavves

Wavves is a surf/punk band in from San Diego, California.  Their music is extremely catchy and is real.  What I mean by "real" is that it isn't the same guitar chords or drum patterns as normal radio music.  I've been really sick of radio music for the past few years, so I really enjoy listening to Wavves.  Whenever listening to them I think of the beach.  All of their music video's are super awesome too.  He likes aliens a lot and so do I.

Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra became an extremely successful solo artist in the 1940's.  He plays a big role in inspiring me to sing.  He has a really smooth voice.  He was once in the mafia.  He seems like a pretty cool guy huh? Listen and enjoy.

Gucci Mane

Burr.  Gucci Mane is one of the most confusing rappers of all time, but I find that hilarious about him.  I think he's an idiot, but a funny one.  His music is supper ghetto and good to get pumped up with.  One of the funniest things that he has done is gotten an ice cream cone tattooed on his face.  Most people do not understand what he is talking about in most songs.  Most of his beats are really catchy and on some occasions you actually can understand what he's talking about.  He likes to yell, "Gucci!", "burr", or "yeahhhhhhhh".  If you do understand the "gucci language", then you are probably well educated about drugs.

Logic

Last night I was searching for some good new music and I stumbled upon a rapper who goes by Logic.  I listened to about three or four songs off of his mixtape Undeniable and he's my new favorite rapper.  He definitely has a style I've never seen before.  I don't know much about him because this is the first I've heard of him, but I can tell he is passionate from his music.
PLEASE CHECK HIM OUT.  YOU WON'T REGRET IT:

You Me At Six

You Me At Six's Josh Franceshi has been a HUGE inspiration to me.  I saw YMAS in concert for the first time in 7th grade and that was my first concert.  Not only did I get to meet Josh and the rest of the band, but once he was on stage he threw me a shout out.  It was still probably the best concert I've been to just because of that.  YMAS has changed their sound quite a bit over the years, but if there was one singer I could sound like, it'd be Josh Franceshi.  1.  I want a Brittish accent  2.  Josh has a really wide range in his singing voice  3.  His voice could sing to any instrument and sound great.  I saw YMAS again in 2011 and it was great.  Not as good as the first time, but I'll be seeing them on the Vans Warped Tour 2012 this summer and I can hardly wait.

MGMT

One of my all time favorite bands is MGMT.  These two guys Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser started messin' around when they were in college together.  Once they realized how much potential they had, they actually started writing serious songs.  They are known for being potheads, but a lot of good songs can come from potheads too.  Their first successful release was their Time To Pretend-EP, released in 2005.  After that they released Oracular Spectacular which is the album they've been most successful with.  It's more of an electronic album, but it still has plenty of guitar and acoustic instruments too.  There most recent album release, Congratulations, is kind of a disappointment compared to Oracular Spectacular, but it still gets the job done.  No matter which way they push their music, I've always loved it and hopefully always will.

Childish Gambino

My favorite rapper is DEFINITELY Childish Gambino(Also known as Donald Glover).  His raps are meaningful(most of the times), however; Like any rapper, not all are too serious.  But what I really like about him so much is that he doesn't rap for his fans, he raps for himself.  I mean yeah he loves his fans, but he actually enjoys rapping.  Even though some of his raps aren't that serious, the rest are very deeply written and there is more depth put into each line than I have ever heard in the rap game.  Aside from being a rapper, Donald Glover is also a comedian, an actor, and a writer.  I think he is one of the most talented musicians out there right now and I hope he keeps pushing himself.

Never Shout Never

Never Shout Never(Also known as Christofer Drew Ingle) has basically been my biggest musical inspiration.  I started listening to NSN in 7th grade and then I started to want to play guitar and write songs.  I started guitar shortly after and have loved it ever since.  I saw him in concert in the beginning of 8th grade and that was awesome.  I guess I liked him a lot because of his catchy tunes and how unique his music is/was from any other artists I've heard.  He does a lot of drugs now, and I think that definitely changed the way his music sounds, but; I will never stop loving the man who introduced me to song writing and guitar playing.  He helped me find my passion, so I think I'm going to support him no matter what he does.

Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash is one of my favorite singers.  He's a country singer from a while back(I think around the 60's...) What I like about his singing so much is that he uses his deep voice to his advantage.  His music is all very catchy.  My favorite songs are, Walk The Line, Cry Cry Cry, and his cover of Bob Dylan's song, It Ain't Me Babe.  I also think the movie that was made about him, Walk The Line,  is a really good movie.

Kellin Quinn

So I've decided to write in purple.  Anyways, Kellin Quinn is one of my favorite musicians.  He is a singer in a band, known for his high pitched voice.  His band is called Sleeping With Sirens.  I saw them last summer in concert and got Kellin to sign my shoe.  Ever since, I've been obsessed with his band.  He is an inspiration to my song writing and singing.  Although I know I'll never be able to sing as high as him, he still inspires me to be comfortable with my own singing voice.  I will be seeing him again this summer at The Vans Warped Tour 2012 in Cincinnati and I can't wait.
Here is my favorite song of his:

I Live For Dubstep

Dubstep is fresh.  The reason it is so good is because there is no other music like it.  It makes you want to move around and dance.  Also the bass makes you vibrate and that's pretty cool o.O Also some of the Dubstep light shows at the concerts are insane.  They get fog going everywhere and have lights shining through it, while you're in electronic music heaven.  It's kind of funny how most of the Dubstep artists are computer geeks, when in non-electronic music, you have to be able to play instruments and/or sing.
Here's some good dubstep:
